You’re Only as Good as Your Team!

February 28, 2019

Have you ever heard the saying, “You’re only as good as your team?” Well, we’ve got a GREAT team at Smart Start Central Oklahoma!

Earlier this week we welcomed thirteen new instructors to our Early Birds program, and their excitement was contagious. Each one of these trained professionals brings a different age group experience, skill set, and personality, but they all share the same goal of helping parents grow and succeed.

Comments from a recent instructor survey prove that our team of instructors is passionate about helping parents and caregivers in their role as their child's first and most influential teacher.

“I have been teaching Early Birds for a year and a half. Over that time I have heard many parents say that they did a lot of singing, playing with, and talking to their child, but after they took the Early Birds class they really understood why it was important to do those things. They also expressed to me that they were much more intentional with how they played with their child, that they interacted with their child more often, had more strategies to engage their child, and understood the importance of play, talking to, reading book, etc. with their child. Overall it has been a wonderful experience.”

“I had a parent stop me in the mall because she recognized me and introduced me to her twins. She went on to tell me how great they were doing in school and said that Early Birds contributed to their success.

“After teaching several classes at a female diversion program, one young mom told me of all the changes she has made in her home to encourage and support her child’s growth and development. With so many odds against her, having the right tools has set her child up for a chance at success.

“I've had a parent whose child was disabled cry in class and tell me how much the ideas and games have helped her child to communicate.”

“The impact (of Early Birds) is extremely positive. I enjoy teaching Early Birds more than other job I have. Not only do I get to develop nice relationships with the moms, but they want to continue coming to the classes. I just had a mom tell me how her life has changed because of Early Birds and the difference she’s seen in herself as a mother from her first child to her fourth.”

I mean, could we ask for a better team? For more information about instructor training, contact Stacy Dykstra at (405) 286-2734 x304.
